Asbestos and Microbial Laboratory Services

Total Safety’s environmental laboratory services are focused on asbestos and fungus identification by microscopy. Our stringent quality management program involves external proficiency testing by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (bulk asbestos, asbestos air and fungal direct exam).

Total Safety’s capabilities in the area of environmental testing services, coupled with our expertise in risk assessment, work to address the health and safety concerns of your workplace and meet regulatory approvals. For more than a decade, Total Safety has been providing reliable, accurate, on time and confidential analytical results either at Total Safety’s laboratory facilities or in the project field.

Proper Sample Handling

When submitting building material samples to our asbestos laboratory each sample must be double bagged in clean and sealed containers, such as two Ziploc®-bags (freezer weight). The outside of the bag/container must be wiped clean and clearly labelled with the sample identification listed on the chain of custody accompanying the sample. If you are collecting the sample make sure you are properly protected and using appropriate respiratory protection. Additional information on sample collection and asbestos can be found at: http://www.hiddenkiller.ca/

Samples can be shipped to our lab by courier or can be dropped off during regular business hours (8:30 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday except Statutory Holidays) at our office. After hours, samples can also be dropped off in our secure box at the main front entrance (column at right of doors) of our building.
