Original survey was not conducted by a qualified professional as defined in the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and was found to be deficient. The General contractor knowingly elected to use this flawed survey while conducting the renovations thus putting his workers at risk and failing to comply with WorkSafeBC regulations. Following some legal pressure the Contractor retained an experienced asbestos abatement contractor to clean up all of the contamination from the site at no cost to the owner and paid reparations for lost time delays. In addition the contractor was penalised by WorkSafeBC.
